List of Scheduler Tasks
The following tasks are included with the Schedule:
- Expired Documents Scheduler: Deletes files that have expired, because they have reached the end of their published period, from File Management. This task is enabled by default. See "Managing File Properties"
- Messaging Dispatch: Sends out any system messages such as password reminders and user registration welcome that are due to send. This task is enabled by default.
- Purge Cache: Deletes all expired cached module items from the cache location. It is recommended that this task be enabled if cached item are stored using a file or database based storage. This task is disabled by default.
- Purge Client Dependency Files: This task is disabled by default.
- Purge Log Buffer: This writes event log data that is stored in the server memory to the Event Log. This optimizes database performance by reducing database activity.
This task is disabled by default. See "About the Log Viewer" for more information on using the Event Log.
- Purge Cache: Deletes all expired cached module items from the cache location. This task is enabled by default.
- Purge Output Cache: This task is disabled by default.
- Purge Schedule History: Deletes the schedule history for tasks. The Schedule will retain history only for the number of days set at the "Retain Schedule History" field. The default setting will retain history for 60 days. This task is enabled by default.
- Purge Log: Deletes all Log data for days outside of the site log history. E.g. If Log history is set to 30 days, then this task will delete records older than 30 days. This task is disabled by default. See "About the Site Log".
- Purge Users Online: Deletes the user membership history for the Users Online module. This causes the Users Online module to then refresh with the latest membership information. The default setting deletes data every minute. This task is disabled by default. See "Configuring Users Online"
- Search: File Crawler: This task indexes file name, path, tags, etc. for every file in the root. This is called 'shallow crawling', as only the file metadata is crawled. Full Trust must be enabled on the site. See "Enabling Full Trust for DNN Sites" for Deep File Crawling which looks inside the files and indexes the text portion of the file. This task is enabled by default and set to run every minute which reflects the time required to make a search.

Re-indexes the search catalog for the DNN Search. This task is disabled by default.

- Search URL Crawler: This task is enabled by default.
- Send Log Notifications: This task sends the email notification settings that are set for logged events. This task is disabled by default. See "Editing Log Settings" for more details.
- Web Server Monitor: This task run every minutes and send an HTTP Request to all Enabled servers ( other than itself ) in the farm which have a URL defined. This task is enabled by default.
